A reinstall erases the server's disk and installs a fresh system. The IP address stays the same.
- In the server panel go to Reinstall.
- Pick a system tile (Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS Stream, Fedora, openSUSE) and its version. The newest version is selected first.
- Or pick a ready-made app - e.g. Docker, Coolify, GitLab, Jitsi Meet, Prometheus + Grafana. Apps install on Ubuntu 24.04 and come configured.
- Press Erase and reinstall and type the server's name to confirm.
Installation takes a few minutes. A new root password is generated automatically and shown in the panel when it finishes - save it.
Before you reinstall:
- Take a snapshot if you want a way back to the current state.
- Copy every piece of data you need off the server. A reinstall cannot be undone.
- The server's SSH key changes, so your SSH program warns about a different key. Remove the old entry with ssh-keygen -R IP_ADDRESS.
The systems on offer depend on the server's processor (x86 or ARM) - you only see the ones that run on it.
